Senior Year | Winter Advance 2017

Senior Year | Winter Advance 2017

Senior year is a bittersweet time in life. Sweet because of all the memories you make, yet bitter because it's full of last times.

I have gone to a winter retreat with my church every year since the 3rd grade, it's sad to think this was my last one. Every year I am beyond blessed and I grow closer to the people around me and learn something new about how God works.

During the sessions, we studied the book of Esther. I was ecstatic when I found this out because Esther is probably my favorite book of the bible. I learned that Eather was flawed. She went against her morals and God's word, yet God still used her. God can use each and every one of use even though our mistakes. He works out mistakes to be used for his glory. Now this doesn't excuse the fact that we sin or make it okay, but it means that God can use everyone even if you have messed up.

Also, something else that stuck out to me is that when we sin we are not only going choosing to disobey God, but we are choosing to obey the devil. When we sin we work for the devil and become a tool of his. Looking at it this way makes it impossible to make excuses for our sin. We can't shake off a sin saying it won't matter later because no matter the sin we are working for the devil and there is no way to make that sound like it's no big deal.

Something else I always love about church trips is that I alway grow closer to the people around me. No matter if I was friends with them before or only kinda talked to them, I always build better relationships with them. When you are stuck with people for a couple days you get to know them pretty well. Trips like this always bring people together and that is something I will truly miss about church trips.

Overall this trip has shown me the first of the last. It really was bittersweet. Senior year has been amazing so far and it's moments and trips think these that is going to make it a year to remember.

Where my heart has peace with God and forgiveness
Where all the love I've ever found
Comes like a flood
Comes flowing down"
