16 Struggles of Having Colored Hair

16 Struggles of Having Colored Hair

1. Keeping up with it - It takes a lot of time and money to keep your hair color looking nice!

2. Cold showers - Going along with the first point, you have to wash your hair in ice cold water to keep the color bright and let's just say that is not the most enjoyable thing to do in the middle of winter.

3. Looking less put together when your hair has faded - When the bright color has faded into a blaah color and the bleach is peeking out, your hair always looks like a mess!

4. Weird stares/judgment - People give you weird looks where ever you go. Especially old people.... I promise I'm not a rebellious teenager and I still love Jesus.

5. Eye contact with other people with dyed hair - You will not understand this until it happens to you. It's like we see and acknowledge each other and then smile awkwardly. Also sometimes there is judgment or jealousy. We walk past each others and you're thinking "their color is prettier than mine".

6. People always know it's your hair - When a piece of hair is on the table or someones shirt or in the shower people always can tell it's your hair because it's brightly colored.

7. Dye getting on EVERYTHING - It's on your pillow case, all your shirts, your bathtub, your hair brush, your towels.... It can't be stopped!

8. Matching clothes when you change your hair color - For example, I had blue and teal hair for a long time so that is what I normally would wear, but when I changed my hair to pink and purple I suddenly am only wearing black because it's the only thing I have that matches.

9. Not wanting to get it cut because then you have to get it re-done - When you have an ombre you will want to go as long as you can without a trim because every inch counts.

10. You always stand out in a crowd - This isn't always a bad thing but it sucks when you are at the store and see someone you know that you don't want to talk to. You can't just turn around. Your hair in a dead giveaway.

11. Associating times of your life with your hair color - Again not a bad thing but something everyone with colored hair does.

12. People ask when you will go back - I'M NEVER GOING BACK! jk Normally when this happens it's family members or older people who don't like your hair color are trying to "politely" (it's not polite) tell you they don't like it.

13. Trying to keep the color bright in the summer - It's not possible if it's hot, sunny, and you swim a lot.

14. It fading into an ugly color - WARNING BLUE WILL TURN INTO AN UGLY GREEN!

15. Your hair color not turning out the way you wanted it it - It will always be a risk dyeing your hair. The color online and in the bowl never looks like it will on your head.

16. Getting green dye out of your hair - Again WARNING BLUE WILL TURN UGLY GREEN! and green in the hardest color to get out of hair so good luck.

Although these are some "struggles" colored hair may bring, colored hair in a lot of fun and I definitely recommend doing it if you have been thinking about it!
